Foundation Model

A large AI model trained at enormous scale on diverse data, used as a base for many applications. GPT, the AI, Gemini, and Llama are foundation models. They serve as generalist starting points that can be adapted — through fine-tuning, system prompts, or RAG — for specific use cases.
