Hook

An automation trigger in Claude Code that fires at a specific moment during a session — before a tool runs, after a command completes, when a session starts, when permission is requested. Hooks are shell commands, HTTP calls, or AI checks that can allow, deny, modify, or log actions automatically. Used by IT and AI infrastructure teams to enforce policies, maintain audit logs, auto-approve routine operations, and integrate Claude into larger workflows.
